This adrenaline-pumping experience begins with a team of racing instructors briefing you on safety procedures, racing theory, and everything you need to know to get your lap times down and your speeds up. They’ll explain flags used, how to enter and exit the track, passing, finding the line, and much more.

Then its time to climb into the driver’s seat. A crew member will make sure you are secured into your 5-point racing harness and your one-way radio is connected to your helmet. You will be able to hear the instructor the entire time you are on the track. They will be giving you advice via the one-way radio on driving safely as you get your speed up to a mind-blowing level.

No previous stock car racing experience required!

• Race around Wiscasset Speedway’s 3/8-mile asphalt banked oval at speeds up to 150mph!
• Receive instruction from veteran racing professionals.
• You’ll be wearing a fire-retardant driver's suite, a full-face helmet with one-way radio communication, and a HANS device.

How fast will I be able to go?

• Real fast! You are driving by yourself in the race car. Speeds vary with each driver’s individual performance.

The Cars:

• All the racecars have standard transmissions.
• If you need assistance operating a standard car, the pit crew will help you leave the pit area and get up to speed quickly.
• You'll be driving a real stock car that has previously raced in professional competitions.
• The Late Model cars are designed specifically for short oval racetracks. Their fibreglass body and strong chassis make the cars lighter and quicker than the NASCAR style Cup cars used at the bigger ovals.
• Race engines range from 400 to 500 horsepower.

Need to know:

• A valid driver’s license is required.
• The minimum age to drive a race car is 18 years old.
• Ride Along minimum age is 14 years and be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
• Minimum height requirement is 5′ tall. Maximum height allowable is 6′ 4″.  Chest and waist can be no bigger than 52".
• Drivers must be able to climb through a 15” high by 28” wide window that is 35” from the ground.
• Please wear clothes that will be comfortable under the driver’s suit.
• Closed-toed shoes are required. Your shoes should allow you to feel the pedals beneath the soles. A running shoe or equivalent usually works best (no boots). Open-toed shoes are not permitted.
• This experience is weather dependent. If your racing event is cancelled due to rain or other inclement weather causing unsafe conditions, your certificate will be rescheduled for a future date. Refunds cannot be issued.
• You are financially responsible for all damage caused to the car due to driver error. A Vehicle Protection Plan is available for $60.00, subject to a $1000.00 deductible. You can purchase optional insurance at the race car track on the day of your event. Due to the quality of the training and cars, damage is rare, but you will be responsible for any damage to the race car.
