New Smyrna Speedway Drive a Race Car Experience

Experience what its like to drive a race car like the  stock car racing pros!

Make their dream of driving a real race car become a reality as they fire up the powerful engine and unleash a 400-horsepower racing machine around the 1/2-mile oval track, a short drive from Daytona and Orlando!

When you arrive at New Smyrna Speedway, you’ll have a comprehensive pre-driving briefing and then get dressed in a driver’s suit, helmet, and a HANS device.

Once you’ve slid through the window and buckled your 5-point harness, you'll need to put it all into practice as you unleash that mighty V8. These are real stock cars that have battled to the finish line in professional competitions!

While you are racing around the track, a crew member will be coaching you the entire time via the one-way radio in your helmet, helping you drive safely while, at the same time, getting your speed up to a mind-blowing level. 

No previous stock car racing experience needed!

Location:   New Smyrna Beach, Florida, a short drive from Orlando and Daytona.  

The Cars: 

• The race cars are all equipped with standard transmissions. If you need help operating a standard vehicle the pit crews will help you exit the pit area and get to speed quickly.
• Late Models that have all raced in competitions.
• The Late Models are designed to race on smaller short oval racetracks.
• The Late Model’s fiberglass body and strong chassis make the cars lighter and quicker than the bigger Cup cars used at larger ovals.

How fast will I be able to go?

• Real fast! You will be driving by yourself in the race car. The speeds vary with each driver’s individual performance.

Need to know:

• A valid driver’s license is required.
• The minimum age to drive a race car is 18 years old.
• Ride Along minimum age is 14 years and be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
• Minimum height requirement is 5′ tall.
• Maximum height allowable is 6′ 4″.
• Drivers must be able to climb through a 15” high by 28” wide window that sits 35” from the ground.
• Chest and waist cannot exceed 52".
• Wear clothes that will be comfortable under the driver racing suit.
• Closed toe shoes are required. The shoes you wear should allow you to feel the pedals through the sole. A running shoe or equivalent usually works best (no boots). Open-toed shoes are not permitted.
• This experience is weather dependent. If your racing event is cancelled due to weather, your certificate will be rescheduled for a future date. Refunds cannot be issued.
• You are financially responsible for all damage caused to the car due to driver error. A Vehicle Protection Plan is available for $60.00, subject to a $1000.00 deductible. You can purchase optional insurance at the race car track on the day of your event. Due to the quality of the training and cars, damage is rare, but you will be responsible for any damage to the race car.
