Scavenger Hunt Experience in Richmond

These fun Scavenger Hunts are half interactive game and half self-guided tour. You’ll be led to Richmond’s most interesting sites, where at each one you’ll be asked to solve a trivia question. Each Scavenger Hunt game includes a mix of well-known and little-known points of interest. Even long-time residents of Richmond will discover something new about their neighborhood!

How it works:

• Playing is easy. All you’ll need is a smartphone.
• Each scavenger hunt provides over 2 hours of outdoor entertainment.
• You’ll find 30+ points of interest. You can discover them all or pause and come back to continue at another time.
• You can play played individually or as a small team with up to 4 people per certificate.
• Once you’ve registered and selected your start date with the tour provider, you’ll receive an email with instructions for downloading the scavenger hunt app and entering your unique game password. (This is done after you’ve activated your experience on Breakaway Experiences’ website).
• Then, you’ll see a map of the neighborhood with all points of interest. Just head over to one to unlock the question!
• You can play the game at your own pace. Want to stop for a coffee or a snack? No problem!

Choose from 3 fun Richmond Scavenger Hunts:

• Downtown / Capitol Square Scavenger Hunt: Discover the seat of Virginia's government, Civil War era stories and buildings. Learn intriguing, little-known sites around downtown, Shockoe Slip, and Capitol Square.
• Church Hill Scavenger Hunt: Get ready for tales of historical figures real and imagined, countless stories of heroism, and hidden nooks and crannies in Richmond’s oldest neighborhood!
• Museum District Scavenger Hunt: Explore an early 20th Century Richmond neighborhood that is full of museums, beautiful architecture, small shops, and a few other surprises!

Need to know:

• You need one ticket per team. Each team will use one smartphone to play the game.
• We recommend playing in team of up 4 people per device (although you can have as many as you like).
• Be sure to bring water with you and wear comfortable shoes.
